Pennridge School Resource Officer Programrunaway.jpg (31667 bytes)

This program, started through a state grant, involves a pro-active approach by the police department in identifying and assisting potential juvenile offenders.  Officers spend time weekly in the high school and the two junior high schools providing intervention services to students identified "at risk" or in need of additional supervision.  In addition, the officers assist the school in truancy cases and in the identification of youths and families in need of assistance.

The Youth Aid Panel is a successful alternative program for first time juvenile offenders.  The all-volunteer panel of community citizens gives the first time offender the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions through restitution to victims, formal apologies and community service in lieu of criminal charges and juvenile court.  If you are a citizen of Perkasie Borough and are interested in serving on the Youth Aid Panel, please call 215-257-6876.

Directed Patrol Programalnew3.gif (19251 bytes)

This program was developed to enhance responsiveness to community needs.  Focusing on areas identified by citizen complaints, observed criminal activity, and safety concerns,  the "hot spots" are then frequented during regular patrols.  These patrols include motor vehicles, bicycle or on foot.  A monthly list of target locations is distributed to all officers.  The directed patrol activities have proven to be an effective tool in prevention of criminal activity and in enhancing traffic safety throughout Perkasie and Sellersville.
